The State of Minnesota selects Centralis to help disabled citizens understand their benefits
March 3, 2009: The Minnesota Department of Human Services and Department of Employment and Economic Development, through their Pathways to Employment partnership, have selected Centralis to conduct usability testing of a new website designed to help disabled job seekers, workers and service providers understand connections between work and benefits.
The website, an adaptation of California’s Disability Benefits 101 site, is designed for people with disabilities. It offers a safe, easy way to explore the possibility of work via tools and tailored plans that illustrate the relationship between employment income and disability benefits. The site also provides links to Minnesota’s information network and other valuable resources.
To ensure that the site is clear and easy to use, Centralis will conduct usability testing among people with disabilities who are interested in employment, as well as social service professionals who will use the site in the course of their work. Test findings will guide the design of the site’s information structure, information quality, and accessibility to meet the needs of people with disabilities and their representatives.
About Pathways to Employment
The mission of Pathways to Employment is to increase competitive employment of people with disabilities and meet Minnesota’s workforce needs by bringing together people with disabilities, employers, businesses, government and providers. Three Minnesota state agencies (Minnesota Department of Human Services, Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, and the Minnesota State Council on Disability) have partnered to develop and implement Pathways to Employment, a comprehensive employment Medicaid infrastructure grant funded through the Ticket to Work and Work Incentive Improvement Act of 1999 (Public Law 106-170).
